In the summer of 2021, we asked the children of the “Marianna V. Vardinoyannis – ELPIDA” Children’s Oncology Unit, the little heroes of ELPIDA, to introduce us to their own heroes. And because a picture is worth a thousand words, the children grabbed markers, brushes and crayons and “spoke” to us by drawing.

Their heroes were not just superheroes with supernatural powers. They were people and beloved elements of their lives, from which the little, but so great heroes of ELPIDA drew their own powers.

We started by creating a special monthly wall calendar for 2022, where each month presents their heroes. 12 months – 12 different heroes, as captured by the children of ELPIDA themselves.

We enjoyed each of their designs, but especially this unique way of communication, which transported the children’s gaze outside the hospital. The decision to make this action an institution came effortlessly and spontaneously to everyone’s thoughts and hearts.

Thus, in 2023, the children created the ELPIDA calendar, capturing the four seasons of the year, while in 2024, Art had its honor! Our little heroes were inspired by the great artists and did a great job, rendering in their own way works by Picasso, Monet, Frida Kahlo and other great creators.

In 2025, our little heroes traveled mentally to favorite places in the world and gave us images from romantic France and historical Egypt to warm Mexico and adventurous Australia. The unique designs and the beauty of their gaze prompted us to expand the action by creating not only diaries, but a series of useful, everyday objects, with the aim of bringing closer to us the gaze of the children we admire.

We hope you love them as much as we do!
